And When I Walked Away
A Poem
I completely broke when it came undone.
My soul ached for a better eternity than being lost
In this cruel moment.
The treasure I found that lifted my soul,
Not of this world it lessened the cold.
It warmed my heart and healed my soul.
Until I knew it wasn’t real
I always thought that people meet people.
That was commonplace.
But when two like souls collided the world changed.
But no, not true, not with what I’ve been through.
He didn’t miss me
So I pulled out a new outfit
Called it Power
And had the courage to walk away.
And when I walked away
I discovered a new feeling
It wasn’t unlike that which had me reeling
A different kind of pain this Power brought to me
The pain that knowing only I could heal me, though I didn’t know how.
