Betrayal

A Poem for Jumpstart July — Day 7

I never asked you to betray me,

You did that all on your own.

So these arms in which you once rested,

You will never be able to call home.

I would say I’m sorry for leaving,

But you weren’t sorry for crushing me,

My soul, my spirit is dying,

Because of the love you took from me.

I can’t trust a heart,

Too free in it’s love now.

It cuts too deep, hurts too much,

This feeling I won’t allow.

So I’m making this decision to walk away from you,

To leave the love that I once held,

Behind and let it go.

For you and I, my dear, consider this the end.
