I've started following the same ideal - treat your writing as less of a hobby and more of a job. I've learned that dedicated time to the craft is a MUST. I've created a challenge for myself this month called Jumpstart July, during which I make sure I write a piece on Medium every day. It's about goal-setting, making time and following through with your goals.
