Why I Still Find Writing On Medium Tricky

I’ve dedicated myself to writing daily on Medium as part of a challenge to myself for the month of July, naming it Jumpstart July. Jumpstart what though? I’m hoping it will enable me to see what I can make of Medium without much promotion of my articles and stories first, before moving onto writing daily PLUS promoting my work.

Call it a weird experiment I’m doing. If you’ll notice, however, I didn’t publish a piece on the 18th day of Jumpstart July. Well, call it my rest day. There will be a day where I will publish two pieces instead of one to make up for the lack of an 18th piece.

I’m still finding Medium tricky to navigate. With the discovery that earning is only possible by member-only reads, that depletes my readers to just the Medium community. The trick lies in getting other writers to read your work, but they’re all promoting theirs, so what to do? So I was left wondering what the best ways are to promote my work on Medium to others that are also on Medium.

1: I tried the usual methods of posting my work links on Twitter and in the Facebook groups, but was met with the difficulty that nobody seemed to be on Medium and the ones who were on the Facebook group weren’t interested in…
